How I wish it would be possible to send letters like that and not get in to trouble. I am always amazed by the circular conversations like those you had with your considerably less smelly patron.

I think I would have slapped the Austin one. I nearly slapped the English student who insisted that David Copperfield was the author of the Victorian novel they had to read, not, as I was trying to point out, a novel by Charles Dickens, which is why they needed to look under 'D' and not 'C'.

And I am seriously impressed by the person with the magic staple in their arm. The headache is most understandable under the circumstances!

I once declared, 'that's crazy!' to the poor librarian who had to inform me how much I owed for returning my book late... It was like $0.40. With our libary not even open on weekends due to financial crisis, I gave her $10.00 and told her 40 cents was hardly going to teach me a lesson.

I wonder, though, if she pocketed the difference...

Do you mean to tell me that library patrons have not changed at all in the past 32 years? These people were coming to the Elmer E. Rasmusson Library on the campus of the University of Fairbnks back in 1971-75. They haven't changed. Especially the one who has the overdue book.

Hope your headache is better now. I have heard gin and tonic is good for them. . .
