…until I’ve finished my tax returns.
Sorry.

You are a braver woman than I am, Ms Reed. Have a lovely fortifying gin and tonic.

Eeh, if only you lived in Sydney. I used to know this brilliant taxman who wore a Hogwarts sweatshirt and handed out angel charms for every tax return he did.

Arrrgh! And Arrrgh!
It is that time of year isn’t it? I’m going to have to tackle the heap that is my inbox aren’t I? WHY didn’t I stick to the plan of filing tax-related documents in a useful place when they arrive, rather than feeding them to the heap?

Don’t you guys have something like Turbotax over there? We use it and we are already done with our taxes. Thank heavens.

It is of course perfectly true that I could have filled out my tax return several months ago and got Them to work out how much I owe.
It is of course perfectly true that I am a Deluxe Procrastinator.
It is also true that the worst bit is not the actual filling in the forms and doing the sums - I can do neat writing and I quite like doing the sums - but the increasingly frantic and self-recriminatory search for the P60 for the Proper Job, the invoices, the bank statements and the Important Bit of Paper to remind you what name you trade under in your self-employment job, which you should of course KNOW, but can never be sure you know just when you have important forms to fill in, and which only earns you a few hundred pounds anyway, so this whole palaver is getting really annoying now… Oh, there it is.

Oh.
They owe me.
Gosh.
I love doing my own tax returns…

I’m sorry I mentioned tax returns now. I seem to have given a lot of good people pain.

*cha..cha..cha..cha..cha-CHA!*
*pauses in little dance*
Thanks for mentioning it - made me actually get around to doing the darn thing and it turned out that the tax man owes me enough money that I can buy a greenhouse for growing nice organic veg. Whoooopeeeee!
