nano_06_icon_120x90.gifBloglily and litlove are doing all these cool poetry meme things and I can’t join in. I have already overcommitted myself socially this week and I. Have. No. Time.

But I really really want to. I haven’t written a word about (or a word of, for that matter) poetry all month and it’s beginning to hurt.

But I’m so close to the finish line on the bloody stupid detective WriMoNovel that I can practically smell the champagne and gunpowder.

Perhaps if I give up sleeping?

[Perhaps not. See here - Ed]

Wayhey! When I saw the progress bar, my eyes popped out! That is great! You’re going to crack this!

Please don’t give up on sleeping. I have semi-given up on it and drag myself through each day in a torpor. I’d love 48 solid hours of the stuff, right now.

Keep it up! The end is in sight…!

Hey, that is great going. Final stretch now - I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

So, you are really going to do it. Where do we get to read the finished result?

    Nearly there! Go go go!

3853 to go. As of 6:40 pm, Tuesday 28th.

    Blimey.

You can do it, Reed. Just hear your fans cheering you at the finish line of the marathon as you run towards it. Or drag yourself, trembling and sweating, as the case may be.

Hehehehe - I am getting this vision of you reaching the 50,000 word mark with one and a quarter paragraphs to go - then leaving it as an unfinished cliff-hanger :)

    Whoo hoo! Good luck girl!

    Nearly there!

*Reed, bewildered, and, frankly, sweaty, staggers in the direction of the cheering…*

3077 words to go. But today I have work and am going out in the evening.

*Makes mad little pre-breakfast sprints. All gibberish*

You can do it! 30 days hath September, April, June and November. You’ve still got time!

I was trying to explain the concept of NaNoWriMo to my husband. A gleam came into his eyes towards the end of my explanation and he said: “I will enter. I will write ‘bum’ 50,000 times on a piece of paper.” I said: “Yes, you could do that, but NaNoWriMo is done in the spirit of personal achievement and I don’t think writing ‘bum’ 50,000 times will give you that sense of achievement.” He said: “OK, I will write some of the story then write ‘bum’ to fill up the pages at the end, and then I will win.” Me: “OK”.

Wow - I was very impressed when I saw your words total! Nearly there! Well done!

Just swung by to check on your word count - fantastic effort that writer!

So very nearly there…so what happens next? After you hit your 50,000 that is? Do you get to submit it somewhere? Is there someone whose job it is to read all the submissions and bin all the ones that have the word ‘bum’ for words 1000-49000?

    You’re doing brilliantly :-)

Yay - congratulations!!!!! (I have posted a prize for you on my blog)

You’ve done it!!! *Snoopy dance of triumph*

    Yeehaw!

So, as there were still around 1,700 to go when I checked last night, I conclude you *did* give up on sleeping.

Congratulations for getting it finished :-)

Something to say?
