    Oh, spooky! They are almost exactly the same as my Writer’s Socks, only mine are a shade more maroon (and my other pair is the same but blue stripey). Maybe there is an unwritten rule that Writer’s Socks have to be stripey (and not ankle socks, definitely not)?

    Interesting theory there, Helen - the few pairs of striped socks that I own are very subdued in colour (black/grey) and definitely ankle socks.

    (Puts ‘long striped socks in bright colours’ on shopping list.)

    It must be an unwritten rule, Helen. I actually made these for myself for no reason that made any sense at all at the time - I don’t even like pink.

    (Currently wearing knee-length purple socks).

    You knitted them?! Wow!! I must confess, I am wearing ankle socks today … but I am not writing. About to collapse is a more accurate description.

    I don’t have writers socks. I generally do everything barefoot. But I do have some awesome socks that are multicolored stripes with individual toes knitted on that I wear with my birkenstocks in the winter. They are so bright they go with everything because they don’t go with anything really. Did that make any sense at all? I MUST fold laundry now. Really.
